UPDATE ON MY SWEET AUSTIN!

WELL, AFTER AN EVENTFUL DAY WE ARE ALL HOME NOW! WE GOT OFF TO A BAD START TODAY WITH A BIG SCARE! AUSTIN HAD BLOOD WORK DRAWN THIS MORNING AT 5:30 AND HIS BLOOD SUGAR WAS VERY LOW (46). SOMEHOW BETWEEN SHIFT CHANGE AND EVERYTHING THE NURSES DIDN'T CATCH THIS UNTIL ABOUT 9:30. SO THEY CAME IN TO RE-CHECK HIS BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL TO BE SURE THIS WAS RIGHT AND IT WAS DOWN TO 36, WHICH IS DANGEROUSLY LOW. THEY CALLED A CODE AND HAD A TEAM OF DOCTORS AND NURSES IN IMMEDIATELY TO START HIM ON SOME IV FLUIDS. HE WAS SO LETHARGIC AND COULD BARELY HOLD HIS EYES OPEN. THANK GOD HE DID NOT HAVE A SEIZURE BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT MOST BABIES WOULD HAVE BEEN DOING BY THIS POINT. ONCE THE IV FLUIDS WERE GOING HIS BLOOD SUGAR CAME RIGHT BACK UP. THEY BELEIVE IT WAS JUST BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN FASTING FOR HIS ENDOSCOPY,BUT CONTINUED TO CHECK IT EVERY HOUR. AFTER ALL THIS HE THEN HAD TO HAVE HIS ENDOSCOPY WHICH WENT VERY QUICK. DR. MESTRE DID SEE THAT HE HAS DUODENITIS AND ESOPHAGITIS. HE ALSO SAID THAT IT LOOKED LIKE HE MIGHT HAVE EOSINOPHILIC ESOPHAGITIS. IT IS SWELLING OF THE ESOPHAGUS THAT IS CAUSED BY ALLERGIES. THIS COULD BE FOOD ALLERGIES OR ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGIES. WE WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL THE BIOPSIES COME BACK.. WE WILL ALSO KNOW MORE FROM THE PH STUDY THAT THEY DID. WE HAVE TO CALL DR. MESTRE ON MONDAY TO GET THE RESULTS. SO I WILL UPDATE YOU ALL THEN. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE CHILDREN'S STAFF. I HAVE TO SAY A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MISS LESLIE ANN FOR TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF US WHILE ON HER FLOOR!! SHE KNEW MY BABY WAS SICK AND GOT THOSE DOCTORS IN QUICK!! ALSO, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ELSE FOR STOPPING BYE, CALLING, AND SPOILING HIM WITH ALL KINDS OF TOYS AND BALLOONS! HIS BROTHER WAS IN HEAVEN WHEN HE GOT HOME WITH ALL HIS GOODIES!

I HAVE LOTS OF PICTURES TO POST, BUT I HAVEN'T GOTTEN THEM UPLOADED YET AND I WANTED TO FINISH THE TWO YEAR PICTURES! THANK YOU KIM FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL WORK. I DO BELIEVE THESE ARE MY FAVORITE AND I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE THEM BLOWN UP FOR MY NEW HOUSE ONE OF THESE DAYS:)!!

I am so glad to hear Austin is done with the tests. I have really been praying for you all. I remember when my parents would tell me "It hurts me more than it hurts you". I cant even begin to say how true it is once you have kids. Also, Kim really out did herself on the pictures. You have two beautiful boys and I think everyone you have posted is my favorite. We were not able to get an appt in for our 2 year pics so we are going to try for family pics in the fall. I hope everything is going good with the pregnancy.
